Four Day Pre Conference Firing workshop

The workshop will be a four day event run by Carol and Arthur Rosser. A kiln much the same as the Oztrain kiln  will be fired with wood from Eucalyptus and Acacia trees native to the Tasman Peninsula with the aim of encouraging natural ash effects. Participants will be encouraged to bring a few pots to put in the kiln.

Free camping and some cooking facilities are available at the venue. Local accomodation is available as this is a beautiful area less than 30km from the Port Arthur penal settlement historic site.

Saturday  April 23  Packing the kiln for natural ash effects
Sunday    April 24 Commence 40 hour firing
Monday  April  25 Conclude firing, including controlled reduced cooling procedure
Tuesday  April 26 Open the kiln and discuss results
Thursday April 28 2011 Woodfire Tasmania 2011 commences at Deloraine
The firing will be held at 552 Dam Road, Saltwater River, Tasmania. Repeatedly double click on Hobart in  the active Google map then zoom in on the lower marker to find the location. It will be  possible to travel by bus  to the workshop area from Hobart, and from the venue to Deloraine on Wednesday April 27.

Non-refundable deposit : $50 payable by 1st Feb  2011
Morning and afternoon teas will be provided without charge. Free camping.
